How much jail time can you get for writing bad checks?

If someone writes bad checks knowingly how much jail time can the person writing the bad checks get?

If the check that was written is less than $500.00 than the person writing the bad check would just be charged with a misdemeanor which would likely just get them a fine.

If the check is more than $500.00 then it becomes a felony and can land the person in prison for at least 2 years.
