When your 2 year old purposely pees on the floor it can be a sign of a cry for attention, a way for them to express their frustration or even a developmental issue.

The 2 year old peeing on the floor on purpose may not always be malicious, but instead of a way for the 2 year old to communicate their needs or struggles with you.

In some cases the 2 year old may be peeing on the floor as they may not be developmentally ready for full bladder control, even if they've been successful with potty training.

2 year olds still have some issues with bladder control and don't always have full bladder control so they may be peeing on the floor because they are distracted and don't want to get to the toilet.

Or the 2 year old may just find it fun that they are peeing on the floor.

My 2 year old used to pee on the floor on purpose before because he thought it was so fun.

However I finally got him to stop doing that and would always direct him to the toilet and would keep a potty nearby him.

My 2 year old hated diapers and so I told him that he would go back to diapers if he continued to pee on the floor and so he decided to stop.

Some kids may like diapers and so it may not work for all kids.

2 year olds can also have problems with executive function, which is their ability to make decisions and regulate their behavior which can affect their ability to recognize and respond to the need to urinate.

Accidents and peeing on the floor can also be a way for the 2 year old to seek attention from their parents, especially if they feel overlooked or ignored.

2 year olds also may pee on the floor due to stress or out of frustration such as changes at home, such as a new sibling or moving or even daily frustrations can result in a 2 year old or other child acting out by peeing or pooping on the floor.

And in some cases a child or 2 year old may intentionally pee on the floor as a way to express their anger or their frustration.

Establishing a regular bathroom break routine can help keep your child or 2 year old form peeing on the floor as they will have an empty bladder and take and encourage your 2 year old to use the potty before going to bed or leaving the house and praise any attempts to use the potty, even if they don't always succeed.
