You can tell if a toddler has a yeast infection by looking for a red, scaly rash in their diaper area.
The red scaly rash in the toddlers diaper area as a result of a yeast infection will also sometimes have pustules and the toddler may also be fussy ,experience discomfort during diaper changes and have difficulty in feeding if they have oral thrush.
Vaginal yeast infections in toddlers can also result in itching, redness and thick white discharge and even pain during urination.
The pustules that can appear with a yeast infection in toddlers are small, pus filled bumps.
If you notice a red, scaly rash in the toddlers diaper area, including their groin, genitals and buttocks as well as the toddlers upper thighs then it's a sign of a yeast infection.
Toddlers with yeast infections often also become more resistant to diaper changes and irritable due to the discomfort with the yeast infection.
And the skin with a yeast infection can be bumpy, cracked, shiny or even oozy with a deep red or purple hue to it.
Oral thrush in toddlers results in white patches on the toddlers tongue as well as inside the cheeks and roof of the mouth.
And toddlers with oral thrush are often reluctant to feed as a result of pain or discomfort in the mouth.
Vaginal yeast infections in girls results in the vaginal area being red and itchy as well as resulting in a thick, white, cottage cheese like discharge which can be slightly yeasty or even odorless.
And burning or pain during urination and even sometimes pain during bowel movements can also occur.
