A bug that is making all the noise at night can be a cricket, a katydid or even a cicada.

Crickets, katydids and cicadas are common bugs that make noises although cicadas mainly make noise during the daytime but I've heard them sometimes and seen them sometimes at night.

Most commonly though a bug that is making noise all night would be either a cricket or a katydid.

If the sound is distinct or repetitive it's most commonly a katydid or a cricket.

The bug that is super loud is the cicada bug.

Male cicada bugs produce a very loud and buzzing sound using their specialized organs called tymbals.

The tymbals that the male cicadas use to make the loud buzzing sounds are located on the cicadas abdomen and acts as a resonance chamber.

Cicadas can also be very loud and some species of cicadas can also reach the sound levels that are even comparable to the sound of a chainsaw.

Cicadas are a superfamily, the Cicadoidea, of insects in the order Hemiptera.

The cicadas are in the suborder Auchenorrhyncha, along with smaller jumping bugs such as leafhoppers and froghoppers.

Cicadas are not dangerous and they can also provide some environmental benefits which include being a valuable food source for birds and other predators and they can also aerate lawns and also improve water filtration into the ground.

Cicadas also do not bite or sting as they don't possess the necessary mouthparts or stingers to bite or sting.

While some cicadas may land on people and some people may mistake the sensation for a sting or bite, it's usually a result of their sharp legs or the piercing action of the cicadas mouthparts as they attempt to feed on tree fluids.

Cicadas have mouthparts which are adapted for piercing and sucking tree sap and not for biting or chewing.
