Jardiance is a heart medication that is used to treat heart failure.
Jardiance is an SGLT2 inhibitor which works by removing excess fluid and sugar from your body through your urine, which helps to improve heart function and reduce your risk of cardiovascular events such as cardiovascular death and heart failure hospitalization.
Jardiance is approved to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization for heart failure in adults with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, "HFrEF".
And Jardiance is also approved to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adults that have type 2 diabetes and who have also have established cardiovascular disease.
However Jardiance cannot cure heart failure, but it can help to manage the heart failure and improve quality of life and is often prescribed in combination with other heart failure medications.
Jardiance is a prescription medicine that is also used to lower blood sugar along with diet and exercise in adults with type 2 diabetes and to also reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes who also have known cardiovascular disease.
In addition to lowering blood sugar and heart-related risks, Jardiance has been found to potentially help with weight loss.
This is an off-label use.
In one study, people with Type 2 diabetes lost an average of more than 2% to 3% of their body weight while taking Jardiance over 24 weeks (close to 6 months).
Steglatro and Jardiance are in the same drug class as each other but the Steglatro is not the same drug as Jardiance.
Jardiance is an oral medication that can be used to lower your blood sugar and also reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease in people with type 2 diabetes alongside other medications, dietary changes, and exercise. It is associated with an increased risk of infections, low blood pressure, and diabetic ketoacidosis.
Steglatro is also an oral diabetes medicine that helps control blood sugar levels.
Ertugliflozin works by helping the kidneys get rid of glucose from your bloodstream.
Steglatro is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Steglatro is not for treating type 1 diabetes.
