Taping toes will straighten them but only temporarily.
You can straighten your toes temporarily by taping them, which helps hold the toes in a more aligned and straight position.
However taping your toes won't permanently straighten the toes but the taping of the toes in a straight position can be helpful to also provide relief from pain and prevent rubbing of the toes on shoes and prevent the toes from rubbing each other which can cause friction blisters.
However if you want to permanently fix crooked toes and have the toes permanently straightened you will need to have surgery done.
Taping though can help manage hammer toes and curly toes, especially when your toes are flexible and soft.
Surgery is required to permanently fix hammer toes, curly toes or other toe deformities, especially if you have stiff toes or severe toe deformities.
Taping your toes is most effective if you have flexible toes such as flexible hammertoes which are not severely stiff.
However once you remove the tape from your toes they will return to their original position.
Taping though will apply gentle pressure to hold your toe in a straighter and more functional and comfortable position to help keep the toe joint aligned and reduce pressure from shoes.
