A spam score on Moz is a metric that indicates the likelihood of a website being penalized by search engines as a result of spammy signals or having low quality backlinks.

The Moz spam score is not a guarantee that your site is spammy, but a percentage of sites with similar characteristics might have been banned or penalized by Google.

The Moz spam score is based on a machine learning model which identifies 27 common features that are found in penalized websites and it also serves as a valuable tool for assessing the quality of inbound links and also identifying sites which require further investigation.

The Moz spam score ranges from 0 to 100 and having a Moz spam score of 100 is really bad and having a spam score around 30 is bad but not really bad.

A spam score of 17 percent or less is not good but not bad either.

Google does not use the Moz spam score to rank websites and so even if your website has a bad Moz spam score it does not mean that your website is spammy or will not rank on Google.

Basically a spam score on Moz of 31 percent to 60 percent is considered to be a medium spam score.

And a Moz spam score of 61 percent to 100 percent is a high spam score.

If your websites spam score is high or you have a Moz spam score above 1 percent you should not panic but look into what could be causing the spam score and if possible correct the issue.

If bad or toxic back links are the issue you can disavow the bad links or if you have a user generated content website then make sure that any content on your website including any comments on blog posts are not spammy and if there are you should remove the spam content.
