To fix a car jerking when accelerating you will first need to determine what is causing your car to jerk when accelerating.

Several things can cause a car to jerk while accelerating.

Common things that cause a car to jerk while accelerating are dirty or clogged air filter, bad spark plugs, bad spark plug wires, bad ignition coils, bad or clogged fuel injectors, bad fuel, low fuel pressure and even transmission problems.

A clogged transmission filter, low transmission fluid, slipping transmission, bad connection in the wiring harness to the transmission if automatic transmission or even a bad wiring harness to the automatic transmission.

Check your transmission fluid and ensure that the transmission fluid is full and not burnt.

If the transmission fluid is low then you should add transmission fluid until it's full and if the transmission fluid is burnt the transmission fluid and filter should be replaced.

Also check the spark plugs, air filter, fuel pressure, and even add some fuel injector cleaner which can sometimes fix the issue.

You can also have an OBD2 scanner plugged into the vehicle to see if any error codes come up.

Engine misfires and transmission issues are common causes of a car jerking when accelerating.

I had a car that was jerking when accelerating and it was the clogged transmission filter and bad transmission fluid.

I've also had cars that jerked a bit when accelerating and it was bad ignition coils causing engine misfires.

A dirty throttle body can also cause a car to jerk when accelerating as a dirty throttle body can disrupt airflow and cleaning the throttle body can help improve throttle response.
