Right before sepsis what happens is an infection, like bacteria or viruses triggers a widespread and abnormal immune response in your body, which then leads to Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome and if left untreated it can progress to more severe stages and result in organ dysfunction and in it's worst it can lead to septic shock and even death if left untreated.

The first signs of sepsis are confusion, extreme pain or discomfort, shortness of breath, fast heartbeat and a high temperature or low temperature.

Other potential symptoms of sepsis are shivering, clammy or sweaty skin, and feelings of being generally unwell or like something is seriously wrong.

The color of urine with sepsis is usually dark yellow or amber which indicates concentrated urine and dehydration.

Although with sepsis your urine can be other colors including, cloudy or milky, red or pink or even purple, brown, black and even green.

Cloudy or milky urine with sepsis can indicate the presence of bacteria or white blood cells in your urine.

Red or pink colored urine with sepsis can be a sign of a urinary tract infection or sepsis.

And purple colored urine in sepsis which is rare can occur in severe cases of sepsis as a result of a condition called purple urine bag syndrome.

Brown colored urine can indicate the presence of bile pigments in your urine, black colored urine can indicate a rare and serious finding that can mean you have a severe infection or even kidney failure and green colored urine can be a result of food dyes or even certain medications.

A change in color of your urine can be an early sign of sepsis and if you notice a change in color in your urine and especially if it's accompanied by fever, chills, confusion or pain you should seek medical attention right away as sepsis is a life threatening serious condition.

The red flags of sepsis are confusion or altered mental state, fast breathing and a fast heartbeat, and high temperature or fever or even a very low temperature also known as hypothermia.

If you have any of these symptoms or someone else has these symptoms of sepsis you should seek medical attention right away as sepsis is a life threatening condition, which can result in death if not treated promptly.

When you or someone else has sepsis, you may notice or have slurred speech, confusion and or a general inability of interacting as normal.

With sepsis, a person may also have a fever or very low body temperature and breathing may also become rapid and shallow and you may also have a rapid heart rate or tachycardia, which is another sign and indication of a sepsis infection.

Sepsis is a very serious and life threatening condition, in which your body's response to an infection, damages it's own organs and tissues.

The red flags of sepsis, signal a rapid decline and potential for septic shock, organ failure and even death if not treated quickly enough.

Sepsis occurs when your body's immune system overreacts to an infection and results in widespread inflammation and even organ damage.

Sepsis can be caused by any kind of infection, including would infections, urinary tract infections, pneumonia, viral infections including COVID-19 or influenza, fungal infections and even parasitic infections.

Sepsis progresses through 3 stages which include, sepsis, severe sepsis and then septic shock.

Sepsis is when your body's immune system is overreacting to the infection.

Severe sepsis is when it has led to organ dysfunction or low blood pressure.

And septic shock is when your body's blood pressure gets critically low, even with treatment.

Sepsis is often treated with antibiotics to treat the underlying infection that caused sepsis, fluids and medications to raise your blood pressure, oxygen therapy and in the case of kidney failure you will need dialysis.
