When you see on a court order or prison inmate search Commitment Order.
The Commitment Order means that the Judge Signed an order to commit the person to either Jail or Prison and orders the inmate to be held in the jail or prison until the jail term or prison term is over.
Whenever I've seen inmates sentenced to prison the inmate search on the prison database usually says New Commit Order.
That is when they arrive to prison and then that order signed by the judge ensures that the prison keeps the inmate until the sentence has expired or until they are paroled.
A judge signs an order to tell the prison system to accept the inmate for a stay in the prison and it also tells the prison when the person can be released if ever.
