A dying LED or LCD monitor will usually start dimming out or may also have dark spots around or near the corners of the screen.

Sometimes the dark spots on the LED screen will start to get bigger and in some cases the LED monitor may just go out and not come back on.

LED monitors typically last from 5 to 10 years although sometimes they may last longer.

The lifespan of a computer monitor is around 5 to 10 years.

Most often the LED computer monitor will start getting discoloration or may start becoming black in color and eventually cover the entire screen.

And in some cases the monitor may not turn on.

If you get 5 to 10 years out of an LED or LCD monitor you're doing good as some quit well before that.

LED monitors and LED TV's have a liquid in them called Liquid Crystals for the display.

When you press on an LED screen when it's on and producing a picture you will notice that there's little liquid crystals moving around.

Pressing on the LED screen disturbs those little crystals so you notice a little blotch that appears and then goes away.

Pressing on the LED screen lightly should not harm it but pressing too hard on the LED screen or doing it too much can damage the LED screen.

Screens such as LED and LCD screens do have a liquid which is known as liquid crystals.

LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display.

LED screens are sealed and cannot leak any of the liquid crystals inside of them.

Even if you break an LED screen it can be hard for anything of the liquid crystals to leak out.

An LCD or LED screen does have a type of liquid in it known as Liquid Crystals which is used for the display and the light provides the light for the display to show up.

The LED lighting is a diode known as a light emitting diode which is what LED Stands for.

Many liquid crystals are simple polymeric organic compounds.

Most people tend to think of polymers as flexible (polythenes etc.) so for liquid crystals the polymers have to incorporate a rigid section, either in the long polymer section (main chain liquid crystals) or attached to the polymer as a 'side chain'.

Liquid crystal (LC) is a state of matter that has properties between those of conventional liquids and those of solid crystals.

For instance, a liquid crystal may flow like a liquid, but its molecules may be oriented in a crystal-like way.

LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) is a type of flat panel display which uses liquid crystals in its primary form of operation.

LEDs have a large and varying set of use cases for consumers and businesses, as they can be commonly found in smartphones, televisions, computer monitors and instrument panels.

A liquid-crystal display is a flat-panel display or other electronically modulated optical device that uses the light-modulating properties of liquid crystals combined with polarizers.

Liquid crystals do not emit light directly, instead using a backlight or reflector to produce images in color or monochrome.
