A Twinkie can last for a few years or even longer although they have a shelf life of 45 days in which they start to become stale after that time.

Twinkies don't rot or spoil as in going bad in that they would make you sick after the 45 days but they become hard, brittle and lose their texture and taste the longer they go past the 45 days.

I've eaten Twinkies that were 5 years old and although they were not as tasty they were still safe to eat.

Twinkies first came out in 1930.

The Continental Baking Company first introduced Twinkies in the year of 1930.

The original Twinkies Recipe featured a banana cream filling, although a shortage during World War II led to the switch to vanilla cream filling which is most commonly associated with the Twinkies we know today.

Twinkies were invented on April 6th 1930 by a Canadian Baker named James "Jimmy".

Twinkies are an American snack cake that is a type of golden sponge cake with a creamy filling and it was also formerly made and distributed by the Hostess brand.

Twinkies were not permanently discontinued.

While Hostess Brands, the company that makes Twinkies, did go bankrupt in 2012 and temporarily ceased production, the brand was purchased and production resumed.

The issues leading to bankruptcy included financial difficulties, changing consumer preferences towards healthier options, and high operating costs.
