Balsamic glaze is a thick, syrupy condiment that is made by simmering of balsamic vinegar with a sweetener, such as sugar or honey until it reduces and thickens into a pourable, honey like consistency.

Balsamic glaze is also known as balsamic reduction.

The process of making balsamic glaze intensifies the bold, complex flavors of the vinegar and creates a glossy and dark drizzle which adds a tangy sweetness to a wide variety of types of dishes, which include vegetables and salads, meats, pastas and even some desserts.

To make balsamic glaze, pour some balsamic vinegar into a saucepan, then add a sweetener like sugar or honey to the vinegar.

Next bring the mixture to a boil and reduce the heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the liquid has thickened to coat the back of a spoon and is reduced by about half.

Then allow the glaze to cool down as it will continue to thicken as it cools down.

Balsamic Glaze is a versatile condiment that is used in many dishes including salads, vegetables, meats and pasta, appetizers and some desserts.

A sweet glaze of balsamic glaze can be drizzled over strawberries and ice cream.

Balsamic glaze can also be drizzled over bruschetta, Caprese skewers, or even avocado toast or even used on grilled chicken, grilled steak or tomato and basil pasta.

You can also pair balsamic glaze with roasted Brussels sprouts, lemon infused vegetables or fresh tomatoes or drizzle the balsamic glaze over green salads, Caprese salads, and other vegetable based salads.
