If the credit card account wasn't jointly owned then only person on the credit card account is responsible for the credit card debt and the living spouse would not be responsible for their deceased spouses credit card debt.
If the credit card account was jointly owned and your name was on the spouses credit card account then you "the surviving spouse" would be responsible to pay the debt.
