Dogs are allowed strawberries but only in moderation.

Dogs can safely eat strawberries as long as you remove the green tops and stems first and cut the strawberries into small, bite sized pieces to prevent choking.

Strawberries when given to your dog in moderation are safe and offer the dog with some nutritional benefits.

However because strawberries are also high in natural sugar content, excessive amounts of strawberries can cause weight gain, digestive issues and even make conditions like diabetes worse.

When introducing your dog to new foods, you should introduce the foods slowly.

Before feeding the dog strawberries, wash the strawberries thoroughly to remove any potential pesticides, remove all stems and leaves from the strawberries as the stems and leaves of strawberries contain bitter compounds which can cause stomach upset in dogs and other digestive issues.

And cut the strawberries into small, manageable pieces that are suitable for the size of your dog to prevent choking hazards.

Strawberries are nutrient rich and contain vitamins C, B1, B6, minerals and antioxidant which support a healthy immune system.

Strawberries are also high in fiber that aids in digestion and the natural enzyme in strawberries called malic acid, can also help reduce plaque buildup on your dogs teeth.

Although rare, some dogs might be allergic to strawberries and may have allergic reactions like swelling or itching.
