Dogs can eat bananas on occasion as a treat and in moderation.
Dogs and benefit by eating bananas in moderation as bananas are a great source of fiber, vitamins B6 and vitamin C and potassium and they are a healthy treat for dogs but bananas are also high in sugar.
Just be sure to remove the banana peel before giving the dog the banana.
You can cut the banana up to make it easier for your dog to eat although they can also eat the banana whole.
But it's also best to cut the banana up into small pieces, especially for smaller dogs.
Although feeding your dog too many bananas can also cause upset stomach, diarrhea or even an allergic reaction in some cases.
If your dog has diabetes or is obese or overweight you should not feed your dog any bananas as the bananas can worsen the dogs obesity and diabetes.
A small dog can eat a few small pieces or slices of banana a week and larger dogs can have up to 1/2 a banana a week although some dogs can eat more.
Overfeeding a dog bananas can result in weight gain, diarrhea, constipation or even digestive upset.
The banana peels should never be fed to dogs as they can cause blockages.
