Can heartworm be passed from dog to dog?

Can one dog heartworm disease from another dog?

Heartworms are actually caused by mosquitoes and can only infect a dog if the mosquito infects another dog.

The heartworm can't be passed from one dog to another without the mosquito infecting the dog.
